I've never been one to call particular attention to the date publicly, but tomorrow will be my thirtieth birthday, and it seemed appropriate to mark the occasion, at least privately. I think it is safe to say that last year at this time, I never could have imagined being where I am today. Still at the inn, of course- this place is my livelihood and my love, and will be until Bridget takes it over someday- but... more personally, I suppose, things have changed.

Abigail. My wife. I can't even begin to put into words what she's done for me- I can only hope that I've been able to bring her some comparable measure of safety and love in return.

Though it's hardly new to say, Bridget continues to amaze me. She's taller every day, it seems, and her cheerfulness is abundant and ever-catching. She's getting smarter, too- even a bit cheeky at times, though I think I'd attribute that to Rena's influence! (Not in a bad way, certainly- between Rena and Abigail, I think that Bridget will grow up to be a wonderful woman.)

Perhaps I'll ask Zachary to bake something tomorrow- dessert on the house, for the dinner crowd, even if I don't explain the motives for my charity.
